Principal's Welcome

Principal's Welcome

Welcome To St Michael’s Primary School, Daylesford
Hi, my name is Tim Hogan and I am proud to be the principal at St. Michael’s Primary School, Daylesford where we have a holistic approach to education.

Our staff deliver a vigourous and engaging curriculum that considers the learning needs of all children. Every child will be supported with the tools necessary to make active and positive contributions - not only at school, also within the wider community.

We provide regular playgroup sessions for all preschool aged children where families can engage in a variety of activities focusing on literacy development, fine motor skills, music and visual arts.

Inspired by the works of inspirational figures such as Nano Nagle and St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop, our school continues to respect the dignity of every person and be called to action by responding to social and environmental issues in a thoughtful and considered way.

The well-being of our students is prioritised and the voice of every student is acknowledged via regular initiatives inviting children to ‘check-in’ with a member of staff on a daily basis. Having access to a student councilor provides students with additional support as required.

Our school grounds provide ample space for our Physical Education program as well as allowing students to engage in creative play during designated break times.

Through the lens of Visible Learning, our teachers use our writing ‘bump it up wall,’ to provide students with targeted feedback so that they can gain a stronger sense of where they are at with their learning and what they need to do in order to further develop their understanding.

At St. Michael’s, we have a number of intervention programs designed to support students at their point of need. We value ongoing and meaningful communication with parents and carers so that ‘real time’ student progress is conveyed over the course of each semester.

A Catholic education nurtures the whole of each child and we are proud to partner with St. Peter’s Parish, welcoming families from all different cultures, faiths and beliefs.
