The St Michael's Difference

The St Michael's Difference

Vibrant, supportive community

St Michael's is part of a connected and engaged family and Parish community.  We have a Community Team with a dedicated group of parents playing a vital role in linking school with home. We uphold the principle that school and home form an important partnership in the growth and development of students, and in creating an inclusive place of welcome for all. Our parish priest and parishioners have an active involvement in the school, and are a wonderful witness and support to our students.

Personal attention

With smaller class sizes and extra LSO's (Learning Support Officers) in learning teams, we are able to offer each child personalised attention. Individual learning plans are developed for students with additional needs, and flexible learning structures and spaces allow us to enhance the learning opportunities of all students, according to their individual needs.

Character focus

Working on the development of the whole person, we place a strong emphasis on the building of character. Our Wellbeing initiatives and approaches form the basis of all academic learning. We focus explicitly on the dispositions of: Grit, Courage, Collaboration and Curiosity as fundamental to being an effective learner.

Partnering with parents

We place a high value on partnering with parents. Both formally and informally, parents meet with their child’s teacher to help establish and review individual learning plans, learning goals, and goals around character development.
